Pros and cons are down below) Check my vid here (likes and subs are highly appreciated)):
Advantages:
1. There were some very creepy parts that I liked and found interesting. I absolutely loved the spook with the rooms slamming near the end, the area with the pool and the start of the game as well. Though, I think there is so much more that could be done to increase the spook factor!
2. I love that there are lots of pieces or lore everywhere. I didn't understand anything, though ahah. But it was fun reading the notes and solving puzzles. I think it's cool that everything is connected to the vision and eyes and "seeing it all" stuff.
Disadvantages:
1. Well, as I've mentioned before, there is a lot that could be done to make the game scrier. I think it would be nice to add something in the pool area. The area itself is sooo creepy and promising so it is such a disappointment that nothing really happens there. I saw that the game is still in development so here I want to suggest a couple of things that could be done and that came to my mind: it would be really cool if one of the statues would keep a secret (if it would be alive or something like that). The player would be able to notice that if the statue wouldn't have a shadow and after discovering the secret it could start stalking the player or constantly looking at them. Something like that would be so cool to see! (It's just a suggestion but I hope it will inspire you!)
2. As I've mentioned before, I didn't really understand the story. It's not necesseraly a disadvantage but I think it would be cooler to see the notes and eyes to play a bigger role. For example, it would be awesome if the game would have secret invisible rooms that can be entered only if the player is walking backwards facing their back to the secret entrance. And that would be able to be found by following the sight of eyes that are all around the game. For example, the eyes on the paintings or the bed could mean so much more if these secret rooms would be a thing. (again, it's just a suggestion).
3. In the final room, the player can actually peep behind the curtains. That spoils the surprise and intrigue a bit so I guess it would be nicer if the player wouldn't be able to do that or if that would mean more. For example, if the player sits in the chair - they die but if they peep behind the curtains, they can see this weird eye thing and the chase scene triggers so player could get a different ending.
Overall:
I think it was a pretty cool experience, especially as a demo. I think it's a promising game and I can't wait to see it developed further. As for now, I rate Cabaret 4/5 stars as is)
Cool lil game. Really enjoyed myself but only thing I dont like is the copyright content (the vinyl record) you used for the game. Keep up the good work.
Very nice art concept ive felt like the eye situation wasnt used in a productive way too much for the amount of teasing in the hotel room but still a cool short game.
A visually stunning game. I would have liked to see more story, but what I've seen so far is interesting and has promise. I had to mute out the record player from the video due to a copyright claim (which I thought was odd) so just an F.Y.I. there. Anyway, very cool game and I hope to see a longer version of Cabaret in the future. Great work, Fire9788!
I love this game’s art direction! I look forward to learning more about the story and protagonist. But in the meantime, I enjoyed the game’s themes and am now curious as to how they tie into the plot.
Just finished playing the game and really was impressed with it. Great game , great atmosphere and creepy setting would recommend to anyone. Here's the video if anyone wants to watch.
This was fantastic! Insanely creepy, but no in-your-face scares, which I very much enjoyed. The pacing, atmosphere, and level design were all top level. This was a masterpiece crammed into a 15 minute game. I loved this. Great work!
I was promised a pole dance function and nice ladies to make me company! I inteed had a jumpscare and a psichological horror game >:( worst cabaret ever! Jokes aside, the game is awesome, give it a chance. And give me a chance too, watch my video, enjoy my voice, my beautiful voice, and have fun watching me get scared one time (only one, ha!)
Interesting, it did catch me out, I was sure that I was going to be spooked another way, and wasn't expecting what actually did. Visuals were fantastic and it looks pretty, Almost like you are walking round a gallery. Ill be honest it didn't have too much of story to it, either I am missing something or it just wasn't there (apart from the few newspaper scraps at the start) but the good thing was I was left wanting more and would definitely buy if there was an extension of the game.
*spoiler alert* I was expecting something to run down the hallway at me... not the heads*
I have to say this game is a indie horror game GEM!!! Its well made but besides that it really has a great atmosphere, it knows how to scare you and give you goosebumps. Fire9788 you have created something truly great here. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a horror game gem that makes you feel uneasy.
OMG I love your reaction! This game was actually made for an assignment of a game course 1 year ago and I wasn't expected to have that many attention. I had so much fun making this as well! Thank you so much for playing this:)
If I have time I would really love to make some updates in the future! stay tuned!!
Very unique game. I liked the mysterious hotel lore. Not really scary but more of a creepy vibe. I thought the environment was impressive. I hope to see more from you!
Love your reaction!! This game was made for a final assignment for a game course and I just couldn't be bothered to add room numbers to each door hahaha XD
